The Penguin Book competition required a new front, spine and back for the book Girl, Woman, Other. I achieved Runner up for the Penguin Book Awards 2022.
Girl, Woman, Other
I chose Girl, Woman, Other, a book based on black female empowerment. The book follows the story of 12 women of colour, exploring their culture, class and sexual identity.
Girl, Woman, Other is centred around the opening night of the play ‘The Last Amazon of Dahomey’ where all the characters meet, therefore the ticket contains the key book information.
A black hand was chosen for the photography to highlight the key theme of ‘race’ articulated in the book.
